Socialization of Waste Management and Provision of Trash Bins to Increase Environmental Awareness

This community service program was motivated by the low level of public awareness regarding environmental cleanliness, which remains a challenge in many areas. The lack of education and availability of proper sanitation facilities has led to irresponsible waste disposal behavior, resulting in environmental pollution and health risks. The aim of this program is to increase residents' awareness and participation in waste management through direct outreach and the provision of waste bins. The implementation methods included initial observation, coordination with community leaders, participatory educational outreach, installation of organic and inorganic waste bins, and the formation of a community-based environmental management team. The results showed a significant improvement in residents' understanding and behavior, such as the habit of sorting waste, using waste bins, and willingness to contribute to community sanitation efforts. The establishment of a community-based management structure also indicated a sustainable social shift. This program highlights the importance of a collaborative approach combining education, physical infrastructure, and social empowerment as an effective strategy to cultivate a clean living culture. The model has the potential to be replicated in other areas as a community-based waste management solution
